May 15th, 2022 in Little Creek Park

Evan was an SCHS graduate of the class of 2020 who fought a brave battle with SpitzoidMelanoma. He was funny, kind, smart, and brave. His friends and teammates have created this memorial race in his honor and we hope to make it an annual event. The proceeds will be split between WV Kids Cancer Crusaders and Alex's Lemonade Stand. AP Timing is the official timer and Mayor Mullens and the City of South Charleston have been a great support for this project.

Today, Delegate Kayla Young made a generous donation to the race.

Leyton Watts accepts a donation for the Evan Stowers Trail walk from Delegate Kayla YoungPrincipal Kim Williams, Kim Hundley and the cross country team with delegate Kayla Young

We are looking for more sponsors. If you are interested or know someone who might be, please contact Kim Hundley.

We hope you join us to celebrate Evan and honor his memory!

Catch the Spirit

What is Catch the Spirit?

Catch the Spirit is the SCHS program to encourage our students to:

Be Here

Be Productive

Be Responsible

We want our students to do their best in and out of the classroom in order to develop the skills necessary to be college and career ready.

The criteria for the first nine weeks reward party is a 3.25 cumulative GPA for the first nine weeks and no more than 3 unexcused absences in any one class for the nine weeks. Students who meet this criteria will be rewarded with a biscuit breakfast party, great raffles and a chance to hang out together.

The criteria for the second nine weeks is to meet the standards above or to show personal improvement by at least having a 2.0 GPA and showing a .5 GPA point increase for the nine weeks, while maintaining good attendance. Showing personal growth and improvement is an important part of making strides to a successful high school career.
